May 20th is World Bee Day, and it’s the perfect time to teach young learners about the importance of bees! 🐝 These tiny pollinators do a big job in keeping our planet healthy — from helping flowers grow to supporting the food we eat. To celebrate, I’m offering 5 free worksheets for Grade 1 that are both fun and educational.

These printable activities are designed to engage first-grade students in reading, comprehension, writing, and problem-solving — all with a bee-themed twist.
✏️ What’s Included:
- 4 Reading Comprehension Passages
Each passage features a cute bee-themed story, followed by three multiple-choice questions to test understanding. Topics include:- Buzz the Bee’s Day
- The Bee and the Flower
- Busy Bees at Work
- Bee Friends in the Garden
- 1 Maze + Creative Writing Prompt
Students help “Buzz the Bee” find his way back to the hive through a simple maze, then complete a writing activity:
“What can you do to help bees stay safe and healthy?”
These worksheets are perfect for classroom use, homeschoolers, or as a fun spring or summer activity. Best of all — they’re FREE to download!

🐝 Why Teach Kids About Bees?
World Bee Day is a great opportunity to teach children about the role of bees in pollination, biodiversity, and food production. These lessons not only meet educational standards for reading and writing, but they also encourage environmental awareness and empathy for nature.
