{"id":1059,"date":"2020-09-07T14:54:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T14:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/obsidianeducation.wordpress.com\/2020\/09\/07\/pre-writing-activities-for-preschoolers\/"},"modified":"2025-01-29T05:19:41","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T05:19:41","slug":"pre-writing-activities-for-preschoolers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/obsidiansofteducation.com\/index.php\/2020\/09\/07\/pre-writing-activities-for-preschoolers\/","title":{"rendered":"Pre-writing Activities for Preschoolers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\">Before children start to write letters and numbers, they need to do tracing activities and learn to draw straight lines, curves, slanting lines, etc. This will help them in writing the alphabet and numbers as both alphabets and numbers can be broken down into straight lines, slanting lines, and curves.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\">I hope the following&nbsp;<b style=\"color: #ff00fe\">worksheets<\/b>&nbsp;will help your children in mastering the tracing of lines and curves so that it will be easier for them to transition to proper writing. I believe that children shouldn&#8217;t be forced to do these tracing activities until their hand muscles are fully developed and strong. Ideally, children shouldn&#8217;t be asked to write with pencils until they are at least 3 yrs old. My recommendation: give them crayons&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #ff00a2\">\ud83d\udd8d\ufe0f&nbsp;<\/span>for the following <span style=\"color: #ff00fe\"><b>worksheets<\/b><\/span> in the beginning and later, give a pencil&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #4d5156\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #4d5156\">\u270f\ufe0f&nbsp;<\/span>for the same worksheets \ud83d\ude0a.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/obsidiansofteducation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/tracing1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\">Using these worksheets is very simple:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #45818e;font-family: helvetica;font-size: large;text-align: left\"><b>1. Playdough&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Play-Doh - Home | Facebook\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/obsidiansofteducation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/imagesqtbn3AANd9GcSiqxwioWsFWHCxoG-SJR5wzDXPrbUAQRdisQampusqpCAU.jpg\" width=\"28\"><b><span style=\"color: #06cc41;font-family: helvetica\">:&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\">Playing with playdough is a marvelous way of strengthening the hands of the little ones. There are many other benefits of playing with playdough.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/obsidiansofteducation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/7139GFyqRL._AC_SX679.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\">Children can learn colors and shapes while their little hands are becoming stronger. Also, playdough is a superb way of sparking the inner creativity of a little mind. The children can make monsters, animals, houses, trees, fruits and vegetables, and whatever they imagine! <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-size: large\"><b><span style=\"color: #ae00ff;font-family: helvetica\">2. Opening and closing bottle caps<\/span><\/b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Plastic Pet Bottle Cap 30-25 mm-Aker Plastics\" height=\"20\" src=\"https:\/\/obsidiansofteducation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/imagesqtbn3AANd9GcR3ch3sjD2Bh9PgmZC02oUsR67ptXQBe-lK3QampusqpCAU.jpg\" width=\"27\"><b><span style=\"color: #ae00ff;font-family: helvetica\">:&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\">This is a fantastic way of developing the finger muscles of children. Don&#8217;t close the bottle cap too tight. Lightly close it and give them to the children for opening. Once they have opened it, ask them to close it again. Children are fascinated by adult tasks and bottles fall into that area so they will do this task happily and your mission of strengthening their hand muscles will be accomplished \ud83d\ude0a.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><b><span style=\"font-size: large\"><span style=\"color: #3856ff;font-family: helvetica\">3.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #2b00fe;font-family: helvetica\"> Clothespin&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #2b00fe\"><img>:<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\">Include clothespins in your activities with your toddlers. Give them some pairs of socks and ask them to pick them up using a clothespin and put them in a box while counting. This will accomplish two tasks: counting and muscle strengthening.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #ff00a2;font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\"><b>3.&nbsp; Easier Writing Utensils&nbsp;<\/b><span style=\"background-color: white\">\ud83d\udd8d\ufe0f<\/span><b>:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: large\">Pencils, pens, markers, dry-erase markers, and crayons are all types of writing utensils as we use them to write. Another way of strengthening the hand muscles of children is you give them easier writing utensils such as thicker crayons, markers, dry erase markers and ask them to just scribble as much as they want. This scribbling will not only strengthen their hand muscles but also develop their grip for the future holding of pencil \ud83d\ude0a<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\ud83c\udf1e\ud83c\udf1e\ud83c\udf1e\ud83c\udf1e\ud83c\udf1e\ud83c\udf1e\ud83c\udf1e\ud83c\udf1e\ud83c\udf1e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">I hope you like this effort.
